905 – DIGIDIM Router

The DIGIDIM Helvar’s range of products based on the DALI standard. The DIGIDIM range is composed of a series of controllers and lamp interface units that are designed to communicate using DALI commands. 905 Router In the sense of a lighting system, a router is an intelligent device whose software and hardware perform the tasks of routing and forwarding messages (data) from control devices to the control gear. A router contains two or more subnets. allows seamless connection of the DIGIDIM control devices (control panels, input units and sensors) to Helvar’s control gear For example, dimmers, relay units, ballasts etc. Control gear receives messages from control devices via the router, and performs the relevant action; for example, it sets the lighting (lamps) that it controls to the relevant level. Some control may be possible at the device itself. Also known as LIU or Load; see entries for both. (dimmers, relay units, ballasts, converters and blind controllers).

LEDs

There are four LEDs for:

• Power / Status. LED A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits incoherent monochromatic light when electrically biased in the forward direction. This effect is a form of electroluminescence. The color depends on the semiconducting material used, and can be near-ultraviolet, visible or infrared. is on to indicate that the router is powered on (it blinks slowly for normal operation and blinks rapidly if there is a problem).

• DALI Stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface. Standardised digital protocol for lighting control, allowing communication between control devices and LIUs (control gear). 1. LED is on for DALI power and blinks for DALI activity on the DALI subnet A subnet is a part of a router. There are two or more subnets on each router. The subnet allows the flow of network traffic between hosts to be segregated, based on network configuration. By organising hosts into logical groups and joining them, subnetting, network security and performance can be improved. 1. If there is a DALI line fault, LED switches off and stays off.

• Service Diagnostics. LED is normally on.

• Link Instructions within a scene that, when the scene is executed, cause another scene to be executed after or instead of the scene, or cause a range of scenes to be enabled/disabled, but only after a defined delay. / Activity. LED is on when router is connected to Ethernet and blinks for activity.
