Manual Override of Blinds Control |
|||
This topic gives a visual representation of how the manual override of blinds control works. It also illustrates the various groups that interact with a Blinds Control Routing Entry.
Blinds managed by a Helvar lighting system can be controlled in either or both of two ways:
Centralised control adjusts the blind positions based on an automated program, such as a simple schedule or a more advanced Sun Tracking Routing Entry.
Local control allows room occupants to override the centralised control. So they can position their local blinds to their own liking, or to a height that is more appropriate to their current task. For example, during a slide presentation it is often a requirement to have the blinds down.

The following figure shows how the centralised and the local control of blinds interact.
This figure has the following main elements:
The blinds controllers of the blinds that need to be controlled together have been assigned to the same destination group :
The blinds controllers for the main office have assigned to destination group 7.
The blinds controllers for the conference room have been assigned to destination group 8.
The blinds controllers for the manager’s office have been assigned to destination group 9.
Note: |
Each group of blinds controllers can be managed manually because these panels have been assigned to the following action/override groups:
The modular panel for the main office has been assigned to action/override group 7.
The modular panel for the conference room has been assigned to action/override group 8.
The modular panel for the manager’s office has been assigned to action/override group 9.
Note: |
For information about how to assign a device to a group, see Subdevice Configuration.
Three blinds control routing entries, one for each group of blinds controllers, have been created to manage the commands that come from the centralised control:
The blinds control routing entry for the main office manages the centralised control commands for trigger group 5 to action/override group 7.
The blinds control routing entry for the conference room manages the centralised control commands for trigger group 5 to action/override group 8.
The blinds control routing entry for the manager’s office manages the centralised control commands for trigger group 5 to action/override group 9.
The centralised control is a sun tracking routing entry. This has been configured to send commands to group 5.
The following sections describe what happens when:
the local control is inactive (Centralised Control);
the local control is active (Local Control).
When the local control is inactive, the centralised control adjusts the blinds positions based on the configuration of the sun tracking routing entry. The following happens:
The centralised control sends a command to trigger group 5 in the blinds control routing entry.
Note: |
The blinds control routing entries redirects this commands to action/override groups 7 (main office), 8 (conference room), and 9 (manager’s office).
Note: |
When the local control becomes active, it overrides the sun tracking routing entry. The following happens:
The centralised control sends a command to trigger group 5 in the blinds control routing entry.
Note: |
The blinds control routing entry ignores the command for trigger group 5 and does not manage it to an action/override group.
The modular panel passes on commands for action/override group 7, 8, or 9 in the blinds control routing entries.
