Change a Device Address

It is possible to change the address of a device in a Real Workgroup, Workgroup Design A simulation of a Lighting System, which may or may not correspond to the devices in a Real Workgroup. or upload design.

The addresses of all DALI subnet devices (but not subdevices) can be changed.

To Change the Address of a Device

1. In the Devices View, right-click on a device. The context menu appears.
   
   

2. Click Change Device Address. The Change Device Address dialog box appears.

3. In the Change Device Address to field, type in a new address. The address must be a positive integer within the range permitted by the subnet A subnet is a part of a router. There are two or more subnets on each router. The subnet allows the flow of network traffic between hosts to be segregated, based on network configuration. By organising hosts into logical groups and joining them, subnetting, network security and performance can be improved., or Workgroup, to which the device belongs.

4. If you type in the address of an existing device, then two options become available: Select Swap with existing device to swap the addresses of the two existing devices, or select Move existing device to Address to change the address to the next available address. For more information, see the example below.
