Remote Control Handset Mimic

The IR Remote Control Handset is a useful component of a DIGIDIM lighting system. However, the IR Remote Control Handset does not appear in Designer as a device that can be added to the system design. Instead, each item that has an infrared input can, when enabled, simulate the IR Remote Control Handset. This simulation allows you to interact with the IR Remote Control Handset controls in the same way as with the physical device.

In a lighting system , signals from a Remote Control Handset may be received by several IR-enabled devices at the same time. However, this is not convenient behaviour when you are developing a workgroup design. To simplify this behaviour the Remote Control Handset mimic is always docked with a panel. This is the only panel to which its signals will be sent.

To reflect the mobile nature of the Remote Control Handset, its mimic can be dragged and dropped to dock it with a different panel mimic. When the Remote Control Handset mimic is dragged close to the bottom of the mimic of a panel that is IR-enabled, it will snap to the panel mimic.

  • Click on any mimic of a device that supports infrared remote control.

  • Click on a scene selection button to replicate it being pressed.

  • Position the mouse on a button to view a tooltip that gives the name and setting of the button.

  • Click to close the Remote Control Handset Mimic.
