Replace a Router

If a router fails in the lighting system, it may be necessary to replace it.

If you replace a router, the new router must have the same firmware version as the router it is replacing.

When replacing a router, you must ensure that the replacement device is integrated into your lighting system design. For example, each router is identified in Designer by its unique serial number. If you replace a router, the serial number of the replacement router will be different, and Designer will regard it as a new router.

Replace and configure a router

  1. Make a backup of the Real Workgroup. For more information about making backups, see Save a real workgroup.

  2. Switch off the router, and then disconnect the power supply and all connections to the router.

  3. Remove the faulty router.

  4. Install the replacement router.

  5. Reconnect the power supply and all connections to the router, and switch on the router.

  6. To replace the router, set the router’s IP address to match the IP address of the previous router. For information, see Router Configuration.

  7. Test the replacement router to ensure that it is working correctly and is recognised by Designer.

  8. Backup the changes to the real workgroup. We recommend that you save the changes with a new Workgroup filename (For example, stating a new version and date).
